In conjunction with Food Ingredients Asia, the conference will take place over three days from September 4-6, 2024. This event will focus on current global trends and major issues in “Sustainable and Innovative Food Science and Technology”. The program includes plenary lectures and parallel technical paper presentations, covering two main themes: (i) Food Quality, Safety, and Sustainability, and (ii) Nutrition and Health: Food as a significant Pillar in Achieving One Health. Additionally, the conference will feature discussion forums on (i) The Asia Pacific Food Innovation Network and (ii) The Potentials and Prospects of the APAC Region’s Food Industry, Business, and Trade.
The speakers in the plenary sessions include H. Arief Prasetya Adi, S.T., M.T. (Chief of the National Food Agency), Prof. Dr. Purwiyatno Hariyadi from SEAFAST Center and Dept. of Food Science & Technology at IPB University and PATPI, Prof. Dr. Dominika Srednicka Tober from Warsaw University of Life Sciences, Prof. Dr. Drajat Martianto from the International Research Institute for Food, Nutrition, and Health at IPB University, and Prof. Dr. Wan Rosli Wan Ishak from University Sains Malaysia. The discussion forum on The Asia Pacific Food Innovation Network will feature diverse presenters from various food industries, while the technical paper sessions will offer researchers in food science and technology, nutrition, and health science from around the world an opportunity to present their latest research. The proceedings of the conference are anticipated to be published in a Scopus-indexed conference proceeding.

The Indonesian Association of Food Technologists (PATPI) is a professional organization composed of academics and practitioners in the field of food technology. PATPI was established to advance and develop expertise in Food Technology and related sciences, implement food technology practices in Indonesia, and enhance the skills and capabilities of professionals closely associated with the activities of its members in the field of Food Technology.
As of 2020, PATPI’s central office is located in Jakarta. There are 32 regional branches of PATPI, which include: Denpasar, Bandar Lampung, Bandung, Bogor, Jakarta, Jember, Malang, Mataram, Palembang, Semarang, Manado, Padang, Medan, Surabaya, Makassar, Yogyakarta, Samarinda, Banda Aceh, Banyumas, Riau, Kendari, Ambon, Surakarta, Kupang, Gorontalo, Bengkulu, Ternate, Pontianak, Serang, Banjarmasin, Jambi, and Papua.
The PATPI annual meeting is typically held to discuss the latest updates on food technology developments in Indonesia, as well as to evaluate and plan PATPI’s work programs. These programs generally fall into four main categories: management of scientific journals, involvement in national and international seminars, preparation of educational books, and collaboration with various stakeholders. The IAFT’s annual meeting and congress (for members only) will take place on Friday, September 6, 2024, at the Bangkok Room, Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran, Jakarta.
Organized by the FiA Conference Committee, this event will feature a distinguished panel of experts including Dr. H. Muhammad Aqil Irham from The Halal Product Assurance Organizing Body, Dr. Nanung Danar Dono from the Faculty of Animal Science at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. Dr. Nancy D. Yuliana from the Department of Food Science and Technology at IPB University, and Prof. Dr. Bambang Prasetya from the Indonesia Biosafety Committee for Genetically Engineered Products. The forum will cover crucial topics such as challenges, trends, and opportunities within the halal industry, cultural and religious perspectives on genetically modified foods, ensuring the halal integrity of genetically modified ingredients, and relevant safety regulations. This session promises to provide valuable insights and stimulate discussions on navigating the regulatory landscape of halal and GMOs, making it an essential event for industry professionals and stakeholders. This event will be held on September 6, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at the Jakarta Room of Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran – Jakarta
Food Product Development Competition (FPDC) is a competition for national and international students in creating innovations for food products. The purpose of this competition is to increase student creativity in developing innovative food products on an industrial scale and contribute ideas for the realization of the benefits of functional food, namely as a maintainer of body health, as well as providing solutions or options for consumers with health problems. The development of functional food is certainly in line with the implementation of the prevention of various major health issues in Indonesia, also in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 3, namely “Good Health and Wellbeing”. The theme of FPDC 2024 is “Applying food science and technology in developing traditional market snacks and beverages to improve health benefits for teens, adults, and seniors”.
FPDC 2024 includes a Product Development competition and an E-Poster competition, both the themes chosen based on the consideration that traditional food and beverages can be improved in terms of appearance, ingredients, and even nutrition along with the development of innovation and technology. The 2024 Food Product Development Competition (FPDC) will be held offline and take place on September 5, 2024 with the 10 best teams that will conduct Presentation and Product Display as well as Poster Display for the three Best Posters.
